WOLCOTT, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man and his wife were arrested late Thursday night in connection with a burglary in which a safe was stolen from a Wolcott business.
On Thursday, police received information that the suspect Daniel Deleo and his wife Cynthia Deleo, were heading to a home on Allentown Rd. in Plymouth, just over the Wolcott line to get gas money.
Officers responded to the location in an attempt to arrest Daniel Deleo who was wanted for committing a burglary and larceny of a safe that contained $60,000 in cash and coins, police said.
Upon arrival, officers spotted Cynthia Deleo outside. They started speaking with her when a small grey car, operated by Daniel Deleo, drove past.
According to police, officers turned on their lights and sirens, in an attempt to stop Deleo, who was wanted for the charges of third-degree burglary and first-degree larceny.
Officers followed Deleo's vehicle into Bristol, onto Route 72, then east on I-84, where State Police took over the attempt to stop Deleo.
Police said Deleo then traveled onto I-91 north, then onto I-291 east to Exit 5 where he finally stopped.
Daniel Deleo was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, criminal attempt to assault an officer, interfering with an officer, weapon in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and failure to bring a vehicle to a stop when signaled.
He was released on a $75,000 bond.
Cynthia Deleo was charged with second-degree hindering prosecution.
