NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- New Haven police say they have arrested a suspect in the June 8 murder of a teenager on Frank Street.
Robert Cirino, 19, was shot multiple times on the front porch of a home on Frank Street.
At a press conference on Thursday, New Haven police say they arrested 21-year-old Trelaine Shaw on Wednesday for Cirino's murder. Shaw was charged with murder and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held on a $2 million bond.
Shaw was arraigned Thursday morning in New Haven. He is scheduled to appear back in court on June 26.
Witnesses told News 8 the suspect walked up to the porch, talked to Cirino, and then pulled out a gun.
Cirino was shot in the chest and leg. He was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital a short while after the shooting.
Detectives aren't saying what the motive was for the shooting, only that Cirino was intended target.
Cirino's family was at the press conference when the arrest was announced. His grandmother told reporters she wants the violence to stop.
"I hope all you young people out there listening," said Cirino's grandmother, Lula Mae Davis. "Stop the violence. Stop the gang-banging. Stay in school. Get a higher education, so we can get along in this world."
