Cornwall, Connecticut (WTNH) - When Environmental Conservation officers showed up toinvestigate a case of suspected illegal hunting, they dug up apotential pot farm instead.
It all went down when they spotted a vehicle sitting alone in awooded area off of Everest Hill in Cornwall.
The officers came upon a couple of men wearing camouflage andthought the men were hunting turkeys out of season. When the mentook off into the woods, they weren't carrying guns. They werecarrying marijuana plants.
This is not the kind of bust Environmental Conservation -- orEn-Con -- police are accustomed to making.
Laid out on a table, back at the Department of EnvironmentalProtection’s Western Headquarters in Harwinton, were 17 guns,over $5,000 in cash, and dozens of marijuana plants all confiscatedwhen the officers busted two men growing pot in a remote part ofthe Litchfield County hills.
"This is an ongoing problem where we have people use state land,private land, and the woods to grow marijuana," explained CaptainRaul Camejo. "One of our other officers made an arrest this pastweekend in Nepaug State Forest where he seized 12 plants thatsomebody was trying to cultivate."
In this latest case, officers say they found more than 250marijuana plants in Gary Hall's Goshen home on Park Road in apeaceful neighborhood along Tyler Lake.
Officers estimate the pot alone, has a street value of $400,000.Hall is free on bond and facing a list of serious charges.

En-Con police say they know who the second suspect is and thatit is only a matter of time before they have him in custody.
