NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 22-year-old woman was arrested for assaulting an officer with a pair of needle-nose pliers after being told that her vehicle was going to be towed.
Around 7 a.m. Monday, a Newington police officer pulled over 22-year-old Emelie Hall, of New Britain, for a traffic violation, on East Cedar Street.
The officer then learned that the registration for the vehicle had expired and that Hall's driver's license was suspended.
When the officer told Hall that her vehicle was going to be towed police said she became aggressive and emotional.
Hall began to gather personal belongings from inside the car. At which time, she grabbed a pair of needle-nose pliers and attempted to stab another officer who had arrived on the scene as back up.
The officer was able to disarm Hall, but sustained a minor injury to his forearm from the pliers.
Hall was taken into custody.
Once in custody, Hall attempted to bite the arresting officer, but was unsuccessful.
Hall was charged with interfering with a police officer, assault on a police officer, criminal attempt to commit assault on a police officer, and several motor vehicle charges.
Bond was set at $5,000.
