Hamden police officer to receive 'Top Cop Award'

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) - A Hamden police officer will have some new hardware after learning he will be receiving an award on Monday.

The Hamden Police Department announced that Sergeant John Testa has been awarded the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Top Cop Award.

Officials say the award was given to Sgt. Testa for his "support and commitment in striving to eliminate drunk driving" in Connecticut.

Sgt. Testa has served on the MADD State Advisory Board and is co-chairman of Tri-Town Walk Like MADD.

He also assisted with the victim impact panel and Start Making A Right Turn Program which works with underage offenders.

Sgt. Testa will be presented with the award on May 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hamden Police Department.
