GLASTONBURY, Conn. (WTNH)-- Two parents are facing charges, accused of hosting a dangerous underage drinking party at their home in Glastonbury.
Police say more than 100 teenagers were at that party.
"They knew the party was going on, they knew alcohol was there and they didn't do anything about it," said Agent James Kennedy, Glastonbury Police Department.
Police say they arrested two Glastonbury parents at their house on Hanover Fields Road, after they received several complaints from neighbors before and during the party.
The family sent out flyers saying if there were any cars blocking driveways, please call them and they will take care of it.
"It said it was a teen birthday party. Their daughter is a teen, no surprise parents have birthday parties for their teens," said Dr. Joy Hong, Glastonbury neighbor.
The surprise was what police found at the party.
"When we got there, there was plenty of beer and hard liquor, drug paraphernalia on the ground, a youth was throwing up on the back lawn," said Kennedy.
Police arrested Shawn and Christopher Nixon.
News 8 went to the house to try and get their side of the story but they didn't answer.
But parents who live in the area say it's hard to believe, the kids were so young. Police say they were between the ages of 15 and 17-years-old.
"I am shocked, shocked and appalled and scared for the safety of our children," said Melissa Dickinson, Glastonbury.
There were more than two bus loads of students in the house and police say when they went up to the door to knock and get inside, the parents wouldn't open up and let them in.
"Yes, in the home while this was going on. They later came outside and shut the door," said Kennedy.
Police say while no one had to go to the hospital, there were a lot of angry parents picking up their kids.
"We had officers there for over two hours, trying to get all of their names to make sure they got home safely. We had about 85 to 90 parents respond out to the scene to take their child home safely," said Kennedy.
