PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) -- Update: Lawrence Bald, Jr. was located in a wooded area adjacent to his home Friday night.
Plainville police are asking residents to be on alert as officers search for a man they say is armed and dangerous.
Police in Plainville are searching for Lawrence Bald, Jr. who left his home carrying a gun.
An all night manhunt started Thursday night when Bald's wife called police saying her husband was threatening violence and had a gun.
"We were able to get her out of the house safely across the street. In the meantime Lawrence Bald, her husband, fled the home through the backdoor with the hand gun," said Lt. Eric Peterson.
Bald is 46-years-old and police say he's been arrested at least once before for domestic violence. Farmington and Bristol police officers assisted Plainville police search the area with dogs and even a helicopter.
"Trooper 1, the helicopter, was able to light up the field and the woods but we were not able to find him," Peterson said.
While some of the police were searching in the woods, others were going door to door knocking and telling people in the neighborhood to get out of their homes for their own safety.
"It was a little crazy ," said Hilda Perez. "The people came to our house and told us to get out of the house because a guy was in the woods with a gun and he's going to shoot around."
Perez says she left around 8 p.m. and was not allowed back home until 4 a.m. and the worst part is Bald is still at large.
Police don't think he went far because he has a condition that requires him to take medication. They are trying to access his cell phone records to see if he called someone to come pick him up.
Officers remind residents that if you see him, call 911 immediately.
