MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH)-- A local food pantry says donations are down and it needs your help.
A large room with shelves with not enough food. Normally the shelves would be fully stocked full, and right now there's practically nothing.
It's the new reality for the Amazing Grace Food Pantry in Middletown.
"We're really at a time when we don't have enough food to supply all the people that come and shop here," said Ron Kron.
Ron Kron is the director of St. Vincent De Paul, the organization that runs the pantry.
He says when it's not Christmas or Easter, donations can get critically low.
"It looks like there's a lot of food here, but when you consider we're serving about 100 households every afternoon, we'll be wiped out by afternoon," said Kron.
Carla Witmer understands the problem better than most. She's a regular recipient of the donations made there.
"Nobody should ever go hungry. Places like Amazing Grace are God sends," said Witmer.
So what types of food should you donate?
"They have some variety, they have choices, three or four days" said Kron.
Those days go by fast which is why they're asking for your help.
