NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)-- A gas station in New Haven that has been a favorite spot for robbers has been hit again. This time in broad daylight by a man with a gun.
And, this time there's a very good look at the man who did it.
New Haven police are looking for the man in a crystal-clear surveillance video. High definition cameras captured the frightening armed robbery at Gerry's Shell Food Mart on Willow Street.
The chilling video shows a man strolling in the front door during the busiest time of day walking up to the counter, brandishing a pistol.
"It's scary to have a gun placed right at your stomach," said Gerald Katz, Gerry's Shell Food Mart.
The bold robber, who dons a Yankees hat, dark shades and white gloves, doesn't make any effort to disguise his face as he holds up the mart.
"The reason he comes in with gloves is because there's no fingerprints. It's unusual because he's looking right at a camera. So he hides his fingerprints but he doesn't hide his face," said Katz.
The calm employee found himself starring down the barrel of the gun. The pistol packing thief demanded cash from two registers.
"He knew exactly where the lottery money was, which tells me he's probably been in the store before," said Katz.
The clerk frantically followed orders, handing him bundle after bundle of bills. The thief cleaned house in less than a minute.
The store's owner, Gerry Katz says his employees are prepared should a robbery happen.
"They are told not to do anything... just give the money and that's what they've done in the past, especially with a gun pointed right at your stomach. That's what I expect an employee to do, just turn over the money," said Katz.
The owner says the robber was bold to hit up the store mid-day during the busiest day of the week.
"This was the most brazen, being held up on a Friday when people get paid and the store is very busy," said Katz.
This store's been hit over 100 times. The owner says the location is hot target for crooks.
"We are only a quarter of a mile from the highway so if you talk about how long it takes to rob the store, under minute. How long does it take to get back on the highway, two minutes," said Katz.
The owner says every time he gets held up, he puts another camera up.
The suspect fled in a Dark Chevy SUV but license plates were covered with cardboard.
Detectives hope that crystal clear video will help lead them to their suspect. Investigators consider the man to be armed and dangerous. If you've seen him, you're urged to call the New Haven police department.
