NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- It's a day iPhone fans have been waiting for: the latest and greatest version of the popular phone has hit the market and people are lining up to be among the first to get one.

The first customers walked in after 12 hours of waiting; lining up at 8 last night.
"Last week for the first time in my life I bought an iPad and now I'm going for the 5-S as well and I'm in my 70's," said David Woods.
They've got their eyes on two designs: the sleek 5-S and the colorful 5-C. They start at about $100 and top out at around $400.
"People like the apple experience. They like waiting in line and the camaraderie and the friends to the left and right of them," said Westfarms Spokesperson Amanda Sirica.
In New Haven doors opened at 8 a.m. and the lines haven't stopped since.
Saira Zafar never intended to be waiting in line, but her phone got flushed.
"I did not want to," Zafar said. "I threw my phone in the toilet this morning, no joke on my way out to work."
However, her misfortune is now turning into a fortunate coincidence landing on the same day as the new release.
"It'll be nice to have something new faster working," Zafar said.
Some of the new features include longer battery life, faster speed, and the 5-S has fingerprint recognition for security.
