Route 30 in Vernon reopens after pedestrian struck by car

VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Route 30 in Vernon has reopened after a pedestrian was struck by a car Saturday morning.

According to police, the crash happened on Route 30 in the area of 550 Hartford Turnpike in Vernon at 6:30 a.m. They say they Metro Traffic Services are assisting with the investigation.

Police say that the specific area of the Hartford Turnpike was closed while they investigated the crash.

Police say the pedestrian struck was taken to an area hospital. The victim is in critical but in stable condition. They also say the driver of the vehicle was the only occupant, they were not injured and are cooperating with the investigation.

Authorities say the identities of those involved are not available at this time.
