UPDATE: An arrest has been made in the death of a 3 year old girl Willimantic. A man has been arrested on assault and other charges.
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the death of a girl in Willimantic Friday.
Carroll L Baumgarner Ramos is charged with assault and risk of injury to a minor, and was held on $1.5 million bond.
Police were called to a home on Potter Street around 10:40 Thursday night. The unidentified girl was taken to Windham County Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead, state police said.
A neighbor told News 8 reporter Kent Pierce says the mother was screaming that her 3 year-old stopped breathing. The neighbor performed CPR.
There were no visible injuries to little girl, the neighbor said.
Willimantic Police Capt. Clifford Spinner this morning did not provide details on what happened, but he did call the incident an "untimely death."
Baumgarner Ramos was arrested by state police and will be arraigned in Danielson. He lives in the same building as the victim.
Police say their investigation remains ongoing.
An autopsy will be performed by the state medical examiner's office.
