(WTNH) -- Heavy rains have caused localized flooding across portions of southern Connecticut this afternoon.
A Flash Flood Advisory is in effect for New London County until 6:45 p.m.
Hundreds of Report It photos show flooding in Stratford, Bridgeport and Milford. Several photos show the first floor of the Milford Mall was flooded from the heavy rains. As a result, the first floor of the mall was closed. The second floor remained open during the storm.
I-395 northbound between exits 79E and 81E has been closed as of 5 p.m. Officials expect the roadway to reopen within the next hour or so.
The West Haven Fire Chief tells News 8 they have been called to several rescues across town. In most circumstances, firefighters were trying to help people trapped in their cars.

The Bridgeport Fire Department tells News 8 at one point more than 30 roads were closed due to the flooding. The roads are starting to be reopened as the water recedes.
