EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A hard-hit shoreline community that prepared for the worst with Wednesday's Nor'easter is East Haven.
The town is predicting flooding in this area, but is not making mandating evacuations. Wednesday's winter blast was not welcomed by those already worn out by weather events.
Swirling snow coating the sand, concrete blocks buried by Sandy; once again soldier's against a storm.
"So we dug them up, we put them back in place thinking we are going to have a strong east wind later on tonight," said State Senator Len Fasano.
The Silver Sands Beach club along East Haven's Cosey Beach is owned by State Senator Len Fasano's family.
The Nor'easter meant no time to celebrate re-election, but instead trying to protect the beach front property, again.
"This is very vulnerable, as is most of Cosey Beach at this time," Fasano said.
The club spent over $2 million rebuilding after tropical storm Irene, only to see Hurricane Sandy do more damage, like filling the new pool with sand.
Neighbors along Cosey Beach had their homes blown off foundations. A dozen were condemned and ordered to come down.
"For them to say they don't know what they are going to do is very very sad," Fasano said.
Hurricane Sandy eroded the beach and now the Nor'easter surge could take out even more. Now there is a push to make it easier to put up seawalls there and along the Connecticut coastline.
"But for some reason in Connecticut we have said DEEP had said no seawalls and that has to change," Fasano said, "it doesn't mean every place gets it, it doesn't mean you armor up the shoreline."
At this point, relying on "stone soldiers" to turn back mother nature, allowing folks to return to recovery.
"But after Sandy we weren't hit quite as hard as bad. The stuff that is damaged we can fix sort of in-house, so we will be good to go," said Fasano.
The Nor'easter is blowing, but Wednesday is Halloween in East Haven, so the Mayor's office says its up to the parents, but it's not being postponed.
