The State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Windham has found that a Norwich police officer was justified in shooting a suspect who then later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The death of a stabbing suspect who was found dead after exchanging gunfire with Norwich police has been ruled a suicide.
Police are searching for an “armed and dangerous” man who allegedly broke into a Norwich home and stabbed another man Saturday night.
Norwich Police have released a past mugshot of the man they say is armed and dangerous. He is 25 year old Brandon Uzialko who is 5′ 10″ with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen with a beard.
“The suspect broke into the home of his former girlfriend and assaulted her new boyfriend,” said Dep Chief Chris Ferace with Norwich Police.
Police say that new boyfriend suffered life threatening injuries and is in critical condition. News8 has learned he was in bed with his girlfriend along with an infant who is the youngest of four children in the house when the attack happened at about 10:20 Saturday night.
“Stabbed multiple times in his upper torso. I do know,” said Dep. Chief Ferace.
Police say Uzialko broke into the Quarto Road home and then fled on foot after the attack. They were unable to track him down. “Very concerned. I”m scared,” said one woman who only agreed to talk with News8 if we did not identify her.
She said she knows Uzialko to be violent and said he has hurt his ex-girlfriend before. “Yes,” she said. “He has yes.”
Last year Uzialko was arrested for assault including strangulation in an alleged domestic violence attack. Police believe he is still in the area.
An intense manhunt ended with a suspect dead in a police involved shooting in Norwich Tuesday night.
