A 71-year-old man died from a flesh-eating bacteria that health officials say he contracted from eating a bad raw oyster at a Florida seafood restaurant.
U.S. Army basic trainee Dez Del Barba, who is from Stockton, Calif., is currently being treated at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He has had 14 surgeries and his left leg had to be amputated above the knee since becoming ill at Fort Benning, according to his parents. The doctors are hoping they can save his right leg, his parents said.
