Brian Spyros joined the News 8 team in March of 2014. He’s currently the weekend evening anchor and reports weekdays for Good Morning Connecticut.
A Bristol native, Brian got his start in broadcasting behind the scenes. He started working as an associate producer for WFSB-TV. After two years in that role, Brian made the switch to working in front of the camera.
His first on-air job took him to WBOC-TV in Maryland as a reporter, bureau chief and morning fill-in anchor. During his time there he covered everything from state politics in Annapolis to Hurricanes Irene and Sandy as they came ashore in Ocean City. Brian would later expand his role at the station as a correspondent and co-host for the daily talk show DelmarvaLife. He traveled throughout Maryland, Delaware and Virginia covering stories about people, places and events. He also made trips to New York City and Los Angeles to interview Kelly Ripa, Michael Strahan, Anderson Cooper, Drew Carey, Dr. Oz, Gayle King and Charlie Rose.
Brian was recognized by the Associated Press Chesapeake Broadcasters Association and received an award in 2012 for a series of stories he covered along the Chesapeake Bay.
Brian is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, where he studied broadcast journalism.
Outside of work, Brian and his wife, Cera, enjoy entertaining and spending time with family and friends. They also travel in their spare time. Recent trips have taken them across the United States, the Caribbean and throughout Europe. In February 2016 they became first-time parents after welcoming their son, Maverick. Their family is complete with a black lab named Keely.
