Griffin Pierson started his broadcast career in 2018 as a Photojournalist at Fox 61 in Hartford Connecticut. Since then, his hard work has paid off winning two New England Emmy Awards one in 2020 for “News Specialty Report-Sport News” and another in 2021 for “Light Feature (Single Report)” and an Edward R. Murrow Award in 2020 for “Excellence in Video”.
Outside broadcasting, Griffin’s love for video and editing started 5 years ago on his YouTube channel that has accumulated 18K+ subscribers and 3 Million video views. Griffin is the son of Sports Director John Pierson and grew up coming to work with his father.

Favorite memory / story from working in TV news?
I am torn between three different stories! The one that sticks out most of the three is the story of a dad that was paralyzed from the waist down and completed a whole 5K tough mudder using only his upper body… My camera and I had the honor of completing the whole course with him and telling his story.
What inspired you to work in news?
Growing up in the industry might have had something to do with it! But at the end of the day, it’s the same thing that inspires me with whatever I am working on… the passion to create.
What is your favorite restaurant in New Haven?
Another hard question! If we are talking pizza then Sally’s or Modern… Wings? Archie Moore’s! I can list them all but to sum it up, I just love to eat.
Who is your favorite musician/band and/or best concert you ever been to?
Favorite artist and best concert I have ever been to, easily goes to Travis Scott!
What’s the best dish you can make?
I make a mean bowl of cereal.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I would love to make it to Iceland one day!
What’s something you don’t know about me?
The most important thing to me beside my fiancé, dog, and family is creating and trying to outdo myself each and every time I create something.
What are your hobbies / hidden talents?
I love to collect! From vintage toys to sports cards if it falls in my interests, it’s on my shelf at home.
