Ken Houston started at News8 in March, 2021, reporting for Good Morning Connecticut. His daily work can also be seen on the stations’ various newscasts and social media platforms.
Ken’s television career started in his hometown of Kansas City, and eventually led him to stations across the country with stops in Tennessee, New York, and Michigan. His work as an anchor and reporter has earned him several awards and recognition. In 2000, Ken found himself in Nashville the night of the Gore versus Bush presidential race. That’s right, the election that brought us the term, “hanging chads.”
Another assignment, while not historic, but equally exciting was his trip to Morocco. Ken spent a week covering that country’s religion, politics, educational system, music, and the food. If you ever run into Ken be sure to ask about his time in Marrakesh. He has also hit the red carpet interviewing a host of celebrities, and served as a presenter for the nationally syndicated, Stellar Gospel Music Award Show.
While attending college at the University of Kansas, where he majored in radio, television and film, Ken worked part time in radio. That job would soon lead to a full time morning drive news anchor and reporter position after college. His voice could also be heard on a variety of voice-over commercials played in parts of the Midwest.
Ken is married to his high school sweet heart, Tracey, whose commitment to his passion has helped him bring you the news that affects your community. The couple has one “favorite” son, and Ken says he takes full advantage of it.
