She joined the WTNH Team in October of 2019.

She comes to Connecticut after nearly two years at WSAV in Savannah, GA. During her time, she covered the Mass Shooting at the Jacksonville Landing, Hurricanes Michael and Dorian and the trial of 5 Savannah Blood Gang Members accused of shooting and killing a Savannah State University Student.

She began her career behind the scenes in Providence as an Assignment Editor and Associate Producer at WJAR-TV before getting her break on the air in Georgia.

Shaynah earned her Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College in Boston, MA. While at Emerson, she served as a general assignment reporter and anchor for WEBN-Boston and Noticiero WEBN, covering breaking news events, politics and community events/issues in the greater Boston area.

She practiced this first hand on her 2016 trip to the communist island of Cuba. It was there that Shaynah served as Co-Executive Producer of “Afro Cuba Libre”; a mini documentary on race relations in Cuba. Afro-Cuba Libre was awarded an EVVY Award for “Outstanding Documentary” and continues to garner international attention.

Shaynah is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists

Shaynah is multilingual; fluent in Spanish and in Portuguese/Cape Verdean Creole. She hopes to use her language skills to help tell the stories of people across Connecticut.

In her spare time, she loves to try new restaurants, coffee shops and find time to enjoy all New England has to offer. She also loves spending time with friends and family. She’s an avid traveler and reader so send recommendations her way!

If you see her around say, “Hi!” She’s bound to hold a conversation with you. You can reach her via email: shaynah.ferreira@wtnh.com, Twitter: @ShaynahFerreira, or Facebook: Shaynah Ferreira TV.
