NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – “The Great Gilly Hopkins” is set to hit theatres soon and the star, Clare Foley, a Connecticut native, dishes on her new role.
“Mostly it’s about finding yourself,” said Clare while describing the plot of the movie and the role of Gilly. “She comes to this one foster family she kind of finds that even though they might not be related to her she can find family and find true fiends.” The movie is based on the award winning book written by Katherine Paterson.
While filming, Clare and her costar, Sophie Nelisse, became so close that Clare’s family practically adopted Sophie. Clare has 4 brothers – so it was nice to have another girl around. Clare brought Sophie to her home in Connecticut on days off and they did everything from paddle boarding, kayaking, rock climbing, shopping and buying matching outfits, DIY projects like tie dying shirts and crafty things like making little mirrors, going to concerts and games to Starbucks runs and meals and lots of frozen yogurt after a work day.
Clare will be doing a Q&A after the “The Great Gilly Hopkins” screening on Saturday, October 1st at 3:00pm. This will be at the Bank Street Theater in New Milford, CT for the New Milford Film Commission.
You can catch “The Great Gilly Hopkins” at a theatre near you starting October 7th.
