Eat for A Good Cause: New Haven Restaurant Week to Benefit the CT Food Bank

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — From Sunday, October 30 through Friday, November 4, 28 of New Haven’s top eateries are teaming up with Market New Haven to give back to the community during the fall edition of the popular New Haven Restaurant Week dining promotion

This is the 17th edition of our Restaurant Week, the first of which was held back in Nov. 2008.

This year, Restaurant week is supporting the Connecticut Food Bank and its new refrigerated food distribution truck.  In conjunction with the hashtag “buck for a truck”, diners at participating restaurants will be asked to make a one dollar donation in addition to their check towards the Connecticut Food Bank, where a dollar can provide two meals for individuals in need. Proceeds from hashtag buck for a truck initiative will help keep the truck stocked through the end of the year and will deliver fresh produce, dairy, frozen meats and highly nutritious nonperishable foods to as many as six community agencies each day.

New Haven supports the Connecticut Food Bank, the largest provider of charitable food donations in our state, to ensure that area residents who are in need have access to nutritious food.

Twenty eight of the city’s great eateries will be offering special three course, prix fixe menus at lunch for $20.16 and dinner for $34 in addition to their regular menus, which offers diners a chance to save significantly.
