The event will be starting on the corner of Ridgefield Street and Westbourne Parkway at noon on Tuesday.

The Hartford Fire Department‘s plan is to educate residents about fire home safety

Members of the Special Services Unit and Firefighters from fire stations will be knocking on doors to pass out literature on renters insurance, cooking safety, home risk assessment survey, and home safety checklist.

The initiative is an on-going process and will take the fire department several days to complete.

According to the Hartford firefighters, there has been an increase of 73% in the average monthly calls for service within 5 years.
