HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin is asking everyone to submit applications to join the Hartford Fire Department.

This is the first recruiting class of firefighters in three years.

The deadline to submit and application is Wednesday, September 13.

“We’re asking you to apply for the chance to wear our uniform, representing more than 150 years of time honored tradition and history,” said Chief Reginald Freeman. “We are looking for the next generation to step up and serve their community with distinction.”

The Hartford Fire Department said it’s gotten 100 applications so far and is looking for more.
