With the state experiencing an early blast of winter on Thursday, the town of Hamden has decided to open up warming centers for those in need during the storm.

On Thursday, the town announced that all Hamden fire stations and the police department’s front foyer will serve as 24-hour warming centers. These will be used for temporary, short-duration emergency warming from the cold.

In addition, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., the Keefe Center, certain town libraries and the Government Center Building will serve as warming center locations.
