Bathroom Makeover Inspiration and Aging in Place Options at Bender

The bathroom is usually where we start our day as well as end it. And Bender is a great place to get inspiration for a bathroom makeover. Plus, they also have options for those who plan on aging in place.

“This bathroom is a super traditional, time-tested, beautiful bathroom,” Nina Bender said of the first bathroom she showed me on display at their showroom in New Haven. “[It’s] something that’s great for the master; a really luxurious spot to come home to at the end of the day.”

This master features earth tones and a combination of patterns and textures.

“You’ve got the wood in the mirrors and in the vanity and then the marble throughout the bathroom on the walls the floor in the backsplash,” Nina pointed out.

The Calcutta marble on the floor is crafted in a beautiful basket weave pattern.

“So it looks super, super intricate,” Nina explained.

One of the most gorgeous features is the hand painted sinks.

“We’ve got the gold and the sliver finishes mixed into the sink, which allows you to do whatever you want with all the other finishes throughout your bathroom,” Nina said.

The second bathroom she showed me is a transitional style. The frameless shower door allows you to see the beauty of the tile, and the integrated drain provides a seamless design.

“You can step on it and not even notice that it’s there,” Nina said.

The jacuzzi tub features glass barn doors.

“It’s just such a cool look,” Nina said. “Not something you would think you’d see in your bathroom.”

If you’re planning on aging in place, bender has options to make your bathroom safer, like stylish grab bars.

“We’ve got grab bars that are so beautiful they’ll keep your design cohesive throughout your whole home,” Nina explained.

Bender also offers safety bars for the toilet.

“We have grab bars on display that can be lifted and held right in place,” Nina said. “They won’t fall down, or they can be placed down, and there’s not much resistance, so anybody can do this on their own.”

A shower with a low threshold allows for easy access while keeping water contained, and a collapsible seat provides a place to sit while you bathe. Plus, a sliding shower head makes washing easier.

“It helps you with personal hygiene and it also helps if you’re not able to stand up and get close to that shower head,” Nina explained.
