NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – ConnCAT opened its doors in the Science Park neighborhood of New Haven in 2012 and has been expanding since then.
The mission’s of ConnCAT and Elm City market are aligned, ConnCAT provides high quality career training to unemployed and underemployed in three focus area: Medical Billing and Coding, Phlebotomy and Culinary Arts. Elm City Market is providing well-paying jobs for graduates of ConnCAT’s culinary program. The Culinary Arts Program opened in January of 2016 and will begin the second class of students this fall. ConnCAT trains individuals through an inspiring learning environment and Elm City Market looks to employ individuals at a livable wage in a positive work environment. The unique collaboration is an intersection between ConnCAT and the market. Both want to change the direction of the lives of those who are struggling, create positive life change for individuals, families and the broader New Haven community. This collaboration makes New Haven stronger.
A ConnCAT Culinary Showcase will be held at Elm City Market on Friday, Sept 9 (5-9pm) at 777 Chapel Street, New Haven. It is a FRIEND-raiser, a deliciously fun way to explore the new Elm City Market and taste the creations prepared by ConnCAT’s Culinary Arts students. It is an opportunity for the community to learn more about the important needs ConnCAT is meeting in the community and to learn how you can help.
Also, it is an effective recruitment opportunity for restaurant and food service managers to see first hand how well trained ConnCAT’s students are.
