Cruisin’ Connecticut – Holiday Cookie Ideas at “Moon Rocks” in Hamden

Cruisin' Connecticut

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Today we’re Cruisin’ Connecticut to Hamden, home of Moon Rocks Gourmet Cookies. We stopped by to see “Momma Moon Rocks” and her daughter, Marnie for some holiday cookie ideas!

Marnie set up shop two years ago, and was inspired to share her mother’s recipes with the community:

My mom created all the recipes and we started with chocolate chip and chocolate chip with nuts. And now we have over 63 recipes including gluten free, vegan, and sugar free. Ryan, it’s about using good ingredients. When you use all natural wholesome ingredients you can taste it in the end product. We use real butter, real sugar, non GMO flower.

Their peppermint cookie is a fan favorite during the holidays! We went into the kitchen to whip up a batch. Marnie recommends using brown sugar, as it contains molasses, providing extra flavor. The cookie is essentially a chocolate chip one, with added peppermint extract, topped with crushed candy canes. The mess I made in the kitchen was well worth it… because these little sweet treats were out of this world!

Moon Rocks Gourmet Cookies also offers holiday gift baskets, and a shop with local artisan gifts. Stop by and say hi to Marnie and “Momma Moon Rocks” at 1830 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, CT 06514.
