Joining us from the Cancer Coach is the Founder, Dr. Rebecca Timlin-Scalera, here today to promote the 3rd Annual “The Cancer Beat” fundraiser for The Cancer Couch Foundation – a Fairfield, CT based organization that raises funds exclusively for metastatic breast cancer (MBC). The event will take place at The Warehouse in Fairfield, CT on September 8, 2018.

The Cancer Couch Foundation (TCCF) was founded in 2016 by breast cancer patient, local mom and Neuropsychologist – Dr. Rebecca Timlin-Scalera after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and learned some shocking facts about the disease and how it is funded. In just two years, TCCF has put almost 2 million dollars into research for MBC! When people fundraise, they start angel funds in honor of a local breast cancer patient to provide funds for MBC patients in financial need.

This event funds research for Metastatic breast cancer (MBC) through TCCF. MBC is when breast cancer spreads outside of the breast to other parts of the body. There is no cure for MBC and almost no research funding goes to this stage. 6-10% of patients are diagnosed with MBC from the beginning but 30% of those with early stage breast cancer will eventually metastasize (and most have no idea this is a possibility!)

This is an amazing fun night of comedy and music with cool chance drawings for things like a trip to LA to see Jimmy Kimmel live!  (flights courtesy of Jet Blue) and much more.

This event is at The Warehouse in Fairfield CT on 9/8/18 and sells out every year with 600 attendees. They have raised $225,000 the past two years at this event! This year they have comedian Christine O’Leary and the band G.Love & Special Sauce (laid back blues and R&B/alternative hip-hop) performing.

There are great sponsorship opportunities available – with a high end target audience of mostly local people.

TCCF is privately funded so 100% of donations and event proceeds go to research at Dana-Farber and Memorial Sloan Kettering and are matched – so your donations are doubled!

“It is terrifying to be diagnosed at Stage 4, knowing there is no cure. Funding research for MBC is the only way to actually end breast cancer.” Founder – Rebecca Timlin-Scalera, PhD
