It’s all part of the One Billion Steps challenge here at News 8. Each week we’ll be recognizing a walk that you can take part in. 

We are joined by Amanda Flanagan, Chairperson of the John Patrick Flanagan Foundation to tell you all about the 3rd Annual Shamrock Sprint 5k.

The Shamrock Sprint 5k, in its third year, is the run takes place in Greenfield ‘Hill’ section of Fairfield, the 5K (3.1 Mile) course is not hilly! The gentle course is shady and beautiful with sweeping stone walls, horses, open space, and tree-lined streets — a truly picturesque setting! The race is chip timed for all participants.

Saturday, August 11th 9:00 A.M

The Shamrock Sprint after-race party hosted on-site at the CT Audubon Society’s Nature Center. They will be serving Garden Catering, B Good salads, Chabaso Breads, MUGSHOT Coffees and Teas, and Alene’s Ice Cream Truck and will include many family-friendly activities including children’s games and bounce house from 9:30 am – Noon.

Race will be held rain or shine.  Lower pricing for children ages 14 and under.

 

Awards:

Special prizes and awards to overall men’s and women’s champions.

T-shirts for all participants and medals for children.

Trophies to top 3 finishers in each category (male & female)

1-6, 7-9, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39. 40-49, 50-59, 60+
