Bride’s dream comes true, dances with terminally ill dad on wedding day

Entertainment

It was a dream come true for an Alabama bride on her wedding day.

Mary Bourne Roberts, now Mrs. James Butt, got the chance to dance with her father, who is terminally ill.

When Mary Bourne was little, she and her father, Jim Roberts, would dance around their kitchen to the same song played at the wedding.

Roberts was diagnosed with glioblastoma in May 2017. He didn’t know if he would make it to his daughter’s big day.

In a video posted by the bride’s wedding photographer, Blue Room Photography, you can watch the two move in the dance of a lifetime. Mary Bourne chose “I Hope You Can Dance” by Lee Ann Womack for their father-daughter dance. With a wheelchair, the two were determined to have their moment on the dance floor.

The reception was held at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear.

The family has asked if anyone feels compelled to donate to research on glioblastoma, please send funds to The American Brain Tumor Association.
