Plus ‘First Man’ is directed by Damien Chazelle, Oscar winner himself, and for the same project as Gosling: 2016’s “La La Land.”
Visually stunning, it takes a while to get there – “First Man” is about the seven years leading up to that walk on the moon, and everything it took to take that “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Always thought that was deep for a guy who just spent four days floating around with a belly full of Tang.
“Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” hits movie-houses too, with Jack Black returning as Author RL Stine and the voice of slappy the dummy. In “Haunted Halloween” more classic Stine characters come alive, and this time on Halloween night. This includes gummy bears, believe it or not, legions of them attacking children.
Sour Patch Kids would’ve probably been too scary. Have you ever looked closely at one? they’re freaky, plus they’re sour to begin with, ya know?
Hey, there’s also “Bad Times at the El Royale,” a Tarantino-esque flick about a motel whose guests include Chris Hemsworth, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm and Jeff Bridges, every last one of them with a secret. None, obviously, with the secret to getting the perfect, competition-free weekend at the box office.
“Bad Times at the El Royale” is rated R, “First Man” is rated PG 13 and “Goosebumps 2” is PG.
