At the Movies: ‘West Side Story’ and ‘National Champions’


(WTNH) — “Jaws.” “Schindler’s List.” “Saving Private Ryan”. “West Side Story?”

Remaking one of the best musicals ever with a new role for Rite Moreno, who won an Oscar for her role in the original film, and may win another here, which would be a first. It would be the first musical for Speilberg.

“National Champions” is the story of a college QB who starts a strike right before the biggest game he’s ever plated to make sure all students are paid fairly.

Oscar-winner JK Simmons revisits his “Whiplash” role as the coach. But let’s talk about the cast. Leo, Meryl, Chalamet, Grande, and the list goes on and on and it doesn’t lookup.

This is a Netflix movie by the same guy who gave us Anchorman. Yes, Meryl Streep has watched “Anchorman.”

Is a huge comet about to destroy the earth? Not if we just ignore it, says her president. They’re calling it satire but is it?
