Elton John has issued an apology to Tampa fans for postponing his show at Amalie Arena.

The superstar was supposed to bring his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” concert to Tampa Wednesday night. On Tuesday, Amalie Arena announced he had to postpone the show due to an ear infection. He also postponed Tuesday night’s show in Orlando.

On Wednesday, Elton John’s tour issued an apology to his Tampa and Orlando fans on social media.

“We are sincerely sorry to everyone due to attend the shows in Orlando last night and Tampa tonight,” the statement said. “Elton has been on a course of antibiotics to combat an ear infection and it was expected that these would clear the infection in time to play the Orlando show.”

The statement says Elton John consulted doctors after arriving in Orlando and was advised he wasn’t well enough to perform.

“Elton and his band play 100% live and with impaired hearing and ear pain he wouldn’t have been able to deliver the performance his fans deserve,” tour officials said. “He will take a couple of days rest to allow the infection to clear up.”

Both shows will be rescheduled. Dates have not been announced yet, but all tickets for the original show will be valid. If someone can’t attend the rescheduled date, refunds will be available.
