‘Little Drummer Boy’ challenge: not hearing the song until Christmas

Holidays

Once Thanksgiving is past, everyone generally finds it acceptable to blast Christmas music. However, this year there’s a challenge to avoid listening to a particular song.

It’s called “The Little Drummer Boy Challenge.” Between 12:01 a.m. on Black Friday and midnight on Dec. 23, people are trying to avoid hearing the song’s pa-rum-pum-pum-pum, or any other part of it, for that matter.

The rules say if people hear any interpretation or even just a snippet of the song, they’re out. Most years, people end up hearing it in TV commercials and movies, but the popular Bing Crosby and David Bowie version of the song also ends up getting people out.

There is a caveat to the game: if someone else tries to get a person out on purpose by playing the song, then they’re out instead.
