MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — Whether you’re looking to tie the knot, or just spend a night out with your beloved, Olde Mistick Village is the perfect spot to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
“Getting married at the Olde Mistick Village is just wonderful because it’s quaint, it’s beautiful, and it’s just romantic walking around,” said Justice of the Peace Marie Tyler Wiley.
Step back in time at Olde Mistick Village and also say “I do,” because this year on Valentine’s Day, you can get married for free in the village’s Meeting House.
“I have five different ceremonies people can choose from,” Tyler Wiley said. “It’s first come, first served, and it’s just a lot of fun.”
The weddings and vow renewals will be performed from 10am to 2pm, and a professional photographer will be on hand to capture the moment.
“This is my thank you to the world,” Tyler Wiley said. “I have such a great life because of what I do, being a wedding officiant and event coordinator. With that said, it fills my heart.”
If you want to get married on Valentine’s Day at Olde Mistick Village, just be sure to get a marriage license at the Stonington Town Hall in advance. A license is not required for vow renewals.
If you’re not quite ready to walk down the aisle, or you already have, the Olde Mistick Village is a great place to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
“The variety of foods in the restaurants at Olde Mistick Village includes everything,” said Joyce Resnikoff, the village’s owner.
Restaurants like Go Fish, Steak Loft, Mango’s Pizza and Pink Basil provide a comfy and casual atmosphere for couples of all ages, and this year Jealous Monk is holding a paint party for singles and couples.
“The Jealous Monk is the bomb,” Tyler Wiley said. “[It’s] high energy and fun.”
After dinner, grab a sweet treat at Bleu Squid Bakery Breakfast and Bakery Cafe.
“They offer delicious, delicious cupcakes,” Resnikoff said.
As well as gorgeous wedding cakes. After you’ve filled up, head to the movie theater, which plays both new releases and independent films.
“It has comfortable seats [and] it’s intimate,” Resnikoff said of the theater.
Also a big draw is the fact they serve local wine and beer.
If you’re in need of a gift for your sweetie, the Olde Mistick Village has just about everything. The store Gineva sells genuine Murano glass necklaces, pendants earrings and more, and the natural beauty store Becca Rose is full of ideas, such as handmade soaps.
“The rose petals are really popular for Valentine’s Day,” Becky Mashuta, owner of Becca Rose, said of the soap.
Or opt for something cozy like a bamboo wrap.
“It is just the softest thing you’ve ever felt,” Mashuta said. “It really makes you feel like you’re wrapped in a hug.”
With more than forty stores and restaurants, there’s no better place to celebrate cupid than at Olde Mistick Village.
