You could call an event held on Saturday a “pep rally” of sorts to kick off the countdown to the classroom.
The rally was held at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
From musical acts to numerous vendors, there was enough to keep both the kids and the parents entertained during the rainy day outside.
As a bonus, 1,000 kids were able to go home with free backpacks that were filled with school supplies.
“We are excited we are giving out different gifts pencils and pens and things happening and also resources to support students both academically and social learning needs,” said New Haven Superintendent Dr. Carol Birks.
