2 brothers charged in New Haven stabbing

Two men were arrested after a stabbing in New Haven on Saturday. 

New Haven police officers and emergency personnel responded to reports of a stabbing outside of a residence on Harding Place, between Dixwell Avenue and Sherman Parkway in the Newhallville neighborhood.

Upon arrival, they located the 46-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds to the shoulder and leg. The New Haven man was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Investigators say they learned that the victim had been confronted outside his residence by two men.

During the altercation, the men allegedly physically assaulted and stabbed the victim. The men left the area on foot a short time later at nearby Dixwell Avenue and Bassett Street where New Haven Patrol officers took the two men into custody.

Two brothers, Dawud W. Amin, 24, and Nadir Amin, 19, of New Haven, were both arrested.

Dawud is charged with assault and conspiracy to commit assault. His bond is set at 100,000 dollars.

Nadir is charged with assault and conspiracy to commit assault with a bond set at 200,000 dollars. Both men are due in New Haven court today for an arraignment hearing.

The victim has since been released from the hospital.
