Just before 9:30 a.m., fire officials say that a reported motor vehicle accident occured on Route 15 northbound where the Westport Fire Department was requested to respond.
Unfortunately, there were injuries resulting in the One Engine, the Rescue, and the Shift Commander having to respond to the scene.
Multiple vehicles were involved, along with some people walking around the roadway at the time. Soon after, Westport EMS, Westport Police, and the CT State police responded to the scene as well.
When the accident happened, the highway immediately shut down due to the traffic between exit 42 and the ramps.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident on the northbound side with one facing the wrong way, one with minor damage and one sustaining heavy damage to the rear.
A total of three people who were involved were checked out by Westport Fire and EMS personnel, with two patients transported to Norwalk hospital by Westport EMS with unknown injuries.
The Fire Department units cleared the scene at around 10:25 am however Route 15 has been remained closed at exit 42.
