Two men were injured in a car crash while one of them was turning into the parking lot of a car repair shop in Plainfield on Monday afternoon.

Police say that at around 12:40 p.m., officers and fire officials responded to a head-on two vehicle accident on Putnam Road in the Wauregen section of town. The crash had occurred in front of the Classic Performance and Repair garage facility at 558 Putnam Road.

An investigation later revealed that 55-year-old Todd J. Loomis, of Dayville, was traveling southbound and had failed to safely turn into the driveway of the repair facility, when he was hit by a vehicle traveling northbound, driven by 49-year-old Wilfredo Sanchez, of Holoyoke, Massachusetts.

In attempt to avoid the collision, Sanchez also struck an unoccupied parked car in the parking lot of the repair facility.

Both Loomis and Sanchez were hurt and taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Loomis was also cited for an improper turn.
