5th Congressional District candidate Jahana Hayes announces she has raised $300,000


The race for the state’s 5th Congressional District is set to see some campaign spending.

Democratic candidate Jahana Hayes announced on Monday that she has raised nearly $300,000.

Hayes jumped into the race about a month and a half ago and managed to force a primary against party-endorsed candidate, Mary Glassman.

Hayes has never held political office and gained nationwide attention when she was named National Teacher of the Year in 2016.
