PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — A seven-year-old has died after she was found unresponsive in a swimming pool on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say after 1 p.m., seven-year-old Isabella Costanzo was playing in her room on Glebas Road when she wandered outside. Police say her mother found Isabella submerged in the family swimming pool. She was taken to Plainfield Backus Emergency Room where she was pronounced dead.
Police say the pool is an above ground swimming pool with an unsecured ladder that led from the ground into the pool. The Town of Plainfield requires every installed pool to have an audible alarm and a self-latching/self-closing gate system.
Isabella’s death is still under investigation. An autopsy will be performed tomorrow to determine the cause of death.
