9/11 Living Memorial ceremony held in Westport

News

Next week will mark 17 years since the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. With that in mind, Connecticut is coming together to remember the victims.

The 9/11 Living Memorial was held at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport on Thursday.

The park is the state’s official memorial to the victims.

It’s a place where visitors can reflect and remember, reading inscriptions and the names on the memorial with the Manhattan skyline behind.

“It is just important to remember everybody, as a group. Everyone who was lost. Everybody who lost somebody,” said Elizabeth Bullis-Wiese of Fairfield.

161 people with ties to Connecticut were killed in the 9/11 attacks. Their names are all inscribed on a memorial at the park.
