Access Health CT extends open enrollment for 2019 benefits

Access Health CT announced Saturday afternoon they are extending the enrollment period for 2019 health insurance.

Open enrollment has now been extended to January 15, 2019.

Originally, the last day for Connecticut residents to enroll for 2019 benefits was scheduled for Saturday.

As of Friday, over 100,000 customers were enrolled into a 2019 plan, according to the agency.

For those still needing to register you can by visiting, calling their call center at 1-855-805-4325., or by visiting one of the enrollment fairs in either Milford or Stamford from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m on Saturday.

The enrollment fairs are taking place at:

Keefe Community Center-Gym

Tuesday, January 8

11 Pine Street, Hamden

East Hartford Community Cultural Center-Gym

Saturday, January 12

50 Chapman Place, East Hartford

St. Vincent’s Medical Center Cancer Center-4th floor conference room

Tuesday, January 15

2800 Main Street, Bridgeport

Officials from the agency are encouraging customers who are currently covered with an existing plan for 2019 to come and evaluate their options. Customers may be able to find savings and choose a plan with lower premiums.

The head of Connecticut’s health insurance exchange tried to assure residents Saturday that a federal judge’s ruling will not affect their ability to sign up for and use 2019 plans offered through Access Health CT.

Chief Executive Officer James Michel’s comments came less than 24 hours after a Texas judge ruled the Obama health law is unconstitutional.

“Access Health CT is the official marketplace under the Affordable Care Act in Connecticut and we are committed to upholding the ACA and the support it provides to residents of our state,” he said in a written statement. “We will not let this news get in the way” of the organization’s efforts to reduce the number of uninsured in the state.
