SEATTLE (WTNH)– After opening its first store in Seattle last year, Amazon is planning to open hundreds of more storefronts.
The online company could be adding up to 400 new locations, Sandeep Mathrani, the chief executive of General Growth Properties INC., said on an earnings call on Tuesday according to the Wall Street Journal.
“You’ve got Amazon opening brick-and-mortar bookstores and their goal is to open, as I understand, 300 to 400,” Mathrani said.
In November, Amazon opened its first bookstore in Seattle’s University Village neighborhood. The store sells books and Amazon’s Fire and Kindle devices.
The bookstore matches the same prices as Amazon’s online store.
