HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Bears are normally seen traveling outside of a forest or in backyards, but on Friday, residents in the capitol city were in for a treat.

A black bear cub was seen in a tree on Chestnut Street in Hartford.

According to the Department of Energy and Enviormental Protection, as of Friday evening, the bear was safely tranquilized and will be released in a wild area.

“We were there for about 4 hours waiting for it to come down from the tree, finally able to drug it when it came down. 1.5 yr old dispersing male, probably recently kicked out by mom. We will release him somewhere in the wild,” DEEP officials said.
