DEEP euthanizes bear who broke into Simsbury home

Animals and Wildlife

A bear has been euthanized after it broke into a home in Simsbury over the weekend.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection say that on Saturday morning, Simsbury officers and State EnCon police responded to a residence after receiving a report that a black bear had broken into the home.

According to DEEP, the bear was identified through its ear tag as being the same bear who had entered into multiple homes last year.

State EnCon Police then euthanized the bear.

It’s unclear how the bear got inside of the house or if anyone was hurt.

There are no further details at this time.
