Keeping birds safe in the snow

(WTNH) — The Connecticut Audubon Society is asking the public to help birds throughout the state during this cold winter.

Many species in the Nutmeg State are well-adapted to New England winters, but long periods of cold can be difficult.Storm Team 8: Click here for the latest forecast

The Audubon Society suggests that people keep their bird feeders filled and scatter seeds on the ground.

Another tip is recycling your old Christmas tree by laying it on its side near your feeders. The birds will use it as cover.
