Will Krause says he nearly died while spearfishing in the Bahamas this summer after a shark charged at the back of his head and neck.

He shared a video of the encounter on Thanksgiving, saying he’s thankful to be alive.

“I felt this huge impact on my head and my neck. I didn’t process that it was a shark bite until I got to the surface,” Krause said.

After friends helped him get to the surface, Krause was bleeding heavily from the back of his head and neck and in shock.

“I could see a lot of blood that was starting to pool around me so I was starting to get nervous that my time was up,” Krause said.

He shared the video of the shark attack and images of himself covered in blood on Thanksgiving.

He said, this holiday “he’s more grateful than ever.”

“It reminds me that God’s in control. That you can’t plan for something like this. It’s given me a new perspective on how I want to live my life,” Krause said.
