Another New Haven firefighter tested positive for drugs and has been suspended from duty.
News 8’s Mario Boone confirmed with two high-ranking fire sources this latest New Haven firefighter testing positive for narcotics use.
The firefighter was working a shift at Fire Station Eight within the last 30 days when he was selected for a random drug screen.
News 8 was told that following the positive test, he was suspended for two days and later checked into a rehab center.

This latest incident comes after another New Haven fireman overdosed in October while on duty at the Woodward Avenue station.
“Sad. It speaks to me that there is no walk of life immune from this disorder. In every profession, every economic strata, there is somebody in some group of people who are going to struggle,” explained addiction expert Diana Clark.
New Haven Fire Chief John Alston declined to comment, citing personnel privacy.
